Link tracking on emails
Zenia adds campaign tracking to the links in your marketing emails, so a website visit that follows a click carries the campaign it came from.

Link tracking is on by default. Every link in a marketing email goes out carrying utm_source (the brand), utm_medium (email), utm_campaign (the campaign) and utm_content (which email inside it). Your website analytics, your acquisition report and your funnels all group on those values.
Good to know
- Values are lowercased and hyphenated, so "June — 'Top-up' offer!" becomes june-top-up-offer. That is what stops one campaign becoming three rows in your reports.
- A link you tagged by hand is left alone. Turn on "Replace tracking somebody already typed into a link" only if you want the brand rules to win.
- Unsubscribe and preference links are never tagged — they are not marketing destinations.
- What a campaign’s links said is recorded when it sends. Renaming the campaign afterwards, or changing these rules, does not rewrite what already went out — so old reports keep making sense.
- Alongside the campaign parameters, Zenia adds one short signed code to links pointing at your own websites. It is what lets a click from an email be recognised as the person you sent it to, which is what makes the email-to-application funnel work. It names the send, not the person, expires within a week, and is never added to a link pointing anywhere else.
- Test and preview sends are not tagged at all, so your own clicking never lands in the reports.
- Recovering older journeys only uses matches Zenia is certain about. If two people clicked the same link at around the same time, or a browser could belong to either of them, it is skipped rather than guessed at — and a browser that already belongs to somebody is never moved. Running it twice is safe.
