By the end you'll be able to
- Put hosted forms and surveys on a hostname the brand owns
- Publish the two DNS records and know what each is for
- Control which pages a hostname is allowed to serve
- Make the domain the base URL your shared links use
Walk through it
0 of 7 steps done0%
Pick a subdomain of a domain the brand controls, such as forms.yourbrand.co.nz. A hostname belongs to exactly one brand, and you can add several — one for forms and another for surveys, if you like.
A root domain (yourbrand.co.nz on its own) only works if your DNS provider supports CNAME flattening or ALIAS records — Cloudflare does. A subdomain avoids the question.
Good to know
- A brand domain only ever serves the public pages you ticked for it. The admin app, the API, the tracking script and hosted email files are never reachable under it.
- A page can only appear on its own brand’s domain — another brand’s form on your hostname shows as invalid.
- Unsubscribe and email-preference links keep pointing at the default address; they are not served on brand domains.
- Only one domain is the base URL at a time. Pages it does not serve keep using Zenia’s own address, and if it stops being Active (a lapsed certificate, a DNS change) new links go back to Zenia’s address until it is live again.
- Removing a domain takes effect immediately, so any link you printed with it stops working. Links go back to the default address for anything you share afterwards.
- Adding, changing or removing a domain, and choosing the base URL, is an Admin action and is written to the audit log. Everyone can see the status and press Check now.
